Our team has been assembled over many years, bringing talented individuals together to create a leading asset management business.Working across a range of diverse asset classes, the team provides a unique perspective on the investment landscape.

Shaun Port CAIA: Chief Investment Officer

Shaun joined Fitzwilliam Asset Management's parent company at the start of 2005 to broaden the research and investment strategy process. The specialist unit acts as advisor on BDO’s range of award-winning Fitzwilliam multi-manager products. Previously, he was Senior Economist and Head of Research at Crown Agents Investment Management.

Shaun holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematical Economics. He has more than 17 years experience in fund management, including formulating investment strategy for portfolios for central banks, sovereign wealth funds and public pension schemes and advising lenders on emerging market risk.

He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts (CAIA) designation and is a member of Society of Investment Professionals.

John Smutniak: Hedge Fund Portfolio Manager

John previously worked for Lyonross Capital Management in New York where he was a portfolio manager on their fund of funds products, including both conservative and aggressive portfolios.

Prior to joining Lyonross, John spent five years as an journalist at The Economist covering economics and financial markets, writing on such topics as global markets, derivatives, behavioural finance, private equity and risk management. Before that he was a Research Associate at Harvard for two years covering global mining companies, and with consultancy Charles River in Boston for four years as an associate. He has an economics degree from M.I.T. and is a licensed pilot.

Robert Walters: Investment Director Property

Robert is responsible for the property investments of Fitzwilliam Asset Management.

With more than 20 years experience in the financial sector, Robert uses this wealth of knowledge in the analysis of property investment opportunities, and in the creation, structuring and marketing of Fitzwilliam Asset Management's property funds.

Robert has established six property Funds to date, investing in UK commercial property; UK prime central London residential; pan European, Scandinavian and German commercial (six Funds to date). Upcoming projects include Caribbean resort development and UK Strategic Income.

The skills acquired in the structuring, financing and marketing of property investments, including hands on experience of cross border transactions, have more recently been turned to assisting property clients of BDO Stoy Hayward in the creation of their own funds for marketing to a variety of prospective clients.

Stuart is the lead Fund Manager of the Fitzwilliam Balanced Income Fund. He holds a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Accounting and Finance as well as the Investment Management Certificate and is a CFA charterholder. Stuart has more than six years investment experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis of funds and portfolio construction.

Amanda Hernan: Investment Director - Fixed Income

Amanda is a senior investment analyst and is responsible for the selection and monitoring of fixed interest funds. Amanda has eight years investment experience and has previously worked at Banco Comercial Portugues and Skandia Investment Management selecting fixed interest funds and managers.

Amanda holds a BA (Hons) in Industrial Economics.

Dev Jadeja CAIA: Hedge Fund Analyst

Dev holds a Masters degree in engineering at Cambridge after gaining a 1st in his Bachelors degree at Cambridge. He is also a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Dev previously worked for Old Mutual Asset Managers (OMAM) as an assistant portfolio manager in their multi-manager hedge fund team, where he focused on quantitative and fundamental equity, macro programmes and fixed income exposure.

Matthew Towsey ACA: Hedge Fund Analyst

Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Philosophy and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA). He is also a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). Matthew joined BDO in 2001 and specialises in both qualitative and quantitative research for hedge fund managers.

He previously worked in the Business Assurance department of BDO Stoy Hayward LLP as an audit manager where his key accounts were large private and FTSE 250 professional services companies.

Kevin Lavery: Operations Director

Kevin is the head of operations for Fitzwilliam Asset Management and additionally has overall responsibility for operational due diligence of current and potential underlying investments.

Kevin holds a Bachelors degree in Business and Finance and a certificate in Mutual Funds. Kevin has more than sixyears fund accountancy and operations experience across various asset classes including hedge funds, property and equities having previously worked with GAM UK Ltd and the Bank of New York.

Abigail Chong: Senior Operations Administrator

Abigail holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kings College London. She is also a qualified Prince II Foundation and Practitioner as well as holding the IMC and Securities Institute exams. Abi previously worked for GAM UK Ltd where she was instrumental in the set up and maintenance of the operational processes in order to achieve and maintain the ISO 9001 certification for the Multi-Manager department.

She was a lead internal auditor and played a key role for the monthly hedge fund dealing, overseeing the process from the initial quantitative analysis, through to the sign off of due diligence reports. Prior to GAM Abi was employed by Fidelity Investments.
